Beautiful Providence

This picture was taken from one of the Providence Place parking garages, the one closest to the convention center, on the ramp up from the entrace. It's blurry and crappy, but I love it.

Coheed & Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold

I went out this evening and saw Coheed & Cambria and Avenged Sevenfold at the Dunkin Donut Center in downtown Providence. C&C were good. Standard alt-rock screamers, and I enjoyed the show.

Avenged Sevenfold definitely stole the show, though. They had a much nicer fog and light setup, used props, used dramatic poise, and put out much more energy. I walked away having spent entirely too much on C&C and A7X apparell.

During a slow A7X song, everybody took out their cellphones, opened them up to show the blue light, and slowly waved back and forth. What a wierd sight!

Italian Greyhounds

These are full grown miniature Italian greyhounds. Zoppo is on the left, Callista on the right. They look very frail and delicate, but let them run together, and they play forcefully. Growling, snapping, the works. No blood, though. They are incredibly fast. Callista in particular enjoys picking fights with other dogs just so they will chase her.

This is not a particularly good picture of them, sorry.

Figure in the Cemetary

Apparently, when the dogs first saw this figure, they freaked out. It's lifelike, but short, standing about 4 feet tall. They seemed to think it was a person standing very, very still.

I worked Monday morning and afternoon, but as the evening approached, Brad and I went out. He picked up some dog food across the river, and then we came back to this cemetary to walk the dogs. He took the leash off, and let them run.

My friend Brad, whom I met in Austria last summer, owns a house within a few blocks of Union Station. He is letting me stay here at the house, which is most gracious of him.

He owns two miniature Italian greyhounds, both of them rescues, and they love him very much. This picture is taken midmorning as everyone was just stirring.

I'm on vacation to D.C., so the next series of pictures are relevant to that trip. I left early in the morning of Saturday, March 31, and I will be returning via overnight train arriving on April 5.

Once you get down past the Providence slums, the southern Rhode Island seacoast is beautiful.

Something New

This billboard was put up by a hopeful congresscritter off I-95 by the Thurber's Avenue exit. Nothing like a having a flair for the dramatic to get your name around town.

This is a rather charged picture to post, but I thought it was interesting. We live in a beautiful world, and the human experience is part of that.

A friend of my father's told us about this. I was at work, and I was going to go drive down around lunch time. When I told my coworker about it, she dropped everything and we went and immediately drove down and took pictures. She's funny, and fiery too.

Morning Frost

The weather has been superb. Sunny, warm, soft breezes. Last night, things got very cold. I ran in to work early, and caught a bunch of pictures as the sun came up and burned off the mist.

As you can see, it hadn't quite warmed up this particular field yet.

Unfortunately, I neglected to remember to change the ISO settting back to ISO100, so the full-size image shows all the nasty, grainy ISO400 artifacts. So it goes.

Rehoboth Morning

Going down Rt. 44 in Rehoboth, there's a large field on the south side by the village center. This field is normally pretty dull, but sometimes, as it was on this warm morning, it's magical.

I don't remember the place being quite this beautiful, but I do remember being amazed, so perhaps it was this beautiful. I had the white balance set to "cloudy," so this picture is a little warmer than reality, but no other edits have been made.

We live in a beautiful world.

Alright, this is my first post in this blog. I have a few other blogs in various stages of progress and updates around the web, but this one is attached to me. My name, my work.

The picture is from a farm on my way from home over to the Route 6 shopping strip. The farm is unfortunately up for sale, so this view probably won't last (they'll pave paradise and put up a parking lot). Damn taxes, damn debt inflation. I'd like this piece of land.

You'd think it was spring, being 50 degrees and all, but it's not!
